MUSIC VIDEO FOR “WHY DON’T YOU SAY SO” FEATURING COUNTRY STAR AVERY ANNA OUT NOW
BAND TO CELEBRATE WITH FREE, SOLD-OUT ALBUM RELEASE SHOW AT COOKS GARAGE IN LUBBOCK, TX TONIGHT

Dexter and The Moonrocks have officially arrived with their debut full-length album, Friends That I Don’t Like, out now via Severance Records/Big Loud Rock.
The 14-track album arrives during a massive year for the West Texas rockers, bringing together their breakout hit “Freakin’ Out” with recent standouts including “It’s A Lot,” “If You Could Talk,” and “12 Steps” featuring Treaty Oak Revival. The album also features a new collaboration with country artist Avery Anna, “Why Don’t You Say So,” which arrives alongside an official music video.

Built around guitar-driven melodies, heavy rhythms, and a healthy dose of grit, Friends That I Don’t Like captures the band’s rock-forward sound while pulling from their West Texas roots. The result is a record that leans into the band’s self-described “Western Space Grunge” while showing just how far they’ve come since their breakout.
“We’ve been waiting a long time to do an album. We always knew the moment had to be perfect for us to do it, and the timing couldn’t be better,” says guitarist Ryan Anderson. “The making of it was the most fun the four of us ever had, and I think you can hear it in the songs.”
Anderson adds that the album feels more like the band than anything they’ve made before, calling the collection “pure, unadulterated Dexter.”
The release comes on the heels of the explosive success of “Freakin’ Out,” which became the band’s first Billboard Hot 100 entry, climbing to No. 33 and helping propel Dexter and The Moonrocks to No. 1 on Billboard’s Emerging Artists chart. The track also spent three consecutive weeks at No. 1 at Alt Radio and five weeks atop Billboard’s Alternative Airplay chart, while remaining in the Top 10 for 21 weeks.
With more than 300 million global streams, an RIAA Platinum certification, and the band’s late-night television debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, “Freakin’ Out” has become a defining moment in the band’s rapid rise.
That momentum has carried over to the stage, with Dexter and The Moonrocks playing packed shows across the country during their nearly sold-out headline tour. The band recently brought their live show to Los Angeles’ Palladium, while also sharing stages with Shinedown and Turnpike Troubadours and appearing at festivals including Rocklahoma.
The band will continue the run with a special appearance at Austin City Limits this weekend, followed by a set at Strummingbird Festival later this month.
To celebrate the album’s release, Dexter and The Moonrocks will also perform a sold-out free album release show tonight at Cooks Garage in Lubbock, Texas. The event sold out within 24 hours and will feature motocross, a skating ramp, a mud pit, vendors, food trucks, and performances from Cole Barnhill and Kody West. Dexter and The Moonrocks will close out the night by performing Friends That I Don’t Like in its entirety for the first time.

ABOUT DEXTER AND THE MOONROCKS:
They dreamed of being pool cleaners their entire lives. Instead, Dexter and The Moonrocks ended up being one of alternative rock’s most undeniable breakout acts. At any given gig, you’ll find goth chicks, cowboys, headbangers, heshers, rebels, and outcasts of all ages singing along to every word, tearing up, and generally rocking out in the moment. In barely five years, the Abilene, TX quartet unassumingly went from playing a local watering hole for less than 50 people to cracking the Billboard Hot 100, going mega-viral multiple times, and selling out shows nationwide. Their patented “Western Space Grunge” tears down genre walls and builds timeless tunes on top of the rubble, delivering the kinds of anthems that sound just as appropriate for Lollapalooza ’93 as they do for TikTok in 2033. Following success with “Western Space Grunge” and “Sad in Carolina,” the group dropped two EPs in 2025 – Happy to Be Here EP and Donkey Flats EP. In 2026, “Freakin’ Out” shot them into the stratosphere. It marked their first entry on the Billboard Hot 100, rising to #33 in just a month. They landed at #1 on Billboard‘s Emerging Artists chart, reeled in over 300 million global streams, and skyrocketed to No.1 at Alternative Radio. It’s no wonder VICE urged, “If you’re a Foo Fighters fan, and you’re in the mood for some new music, I would love to introduce you to Dexter and The Moonrocks.” After quietly emerging as a phenomenon, they’re about to get really loud in 2026 with their forthcoming full-length debut album [Severance Records/Big Loud Rock], a ton of touring, and more to come. Now, true to the viral trend they introduced, Dexter and The Moonrocks are remembering who they are. And they won’t stop until they’re the best damn rock band in the world.
