UP ‘N’ COMING ROCHESTER, NEW YORK BAND GLASSWAVES SHARE “SCARed” VISUALIZER — WATCH
DEBUT ALBUM WHILE (TRUE) ARRIVES OCTOBER 23 VIA SHARPTONE RECORDS – PRE-ORDER HERE
Rochester, New York-based trio Glasswaves are gearing up for a new chapter with the announcement of their upcoming album, while (True), arriving October 23 via SharpTone Records.
Blending dark pop, alternative rock, electronic elements, and heavier sounds, the band have continued to build their own sound since forming in 2023. Now, they’re giving listeners another taste of what’s to come with their latest single, “SCARed.”
Featuring Noah Rich on vocals, Owen Miller on guitar, and Brendan Curtis on bass, the trio have created something that balances haunting melodies with crushing instrumentals. “SCARed” pulls you into an unsettling atmosphere while still delivering the kind of intensity that makes you want to turn the volume all the way up.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the track, Rich explains:
“‘SCARed’ captures that moment when your thoughts turn to static, and you can’t tell what’s real, what’s memory, or what’s just yourself unraveling. From the moment Owen, our producer, and I got in the room with this song, we knew it was something special.”
But while (True) is more than just a collection of songs. The album follows a fictional medical technology company called Liminal-Neuro, which claims to help people overcome trauma, addiction, and obsession through experimental dream manipulation.
Using a drug known as “Neuro Veil,” the company conducts psychological experiments on various subjects. However, things take a much darker turn when an ancient female entity known as “The Veil” begins to appear, taking the form of each subject’s deepest desires.
As the experiments spiral out of control, the company’s intentions become increasingly questionable, setting the stage for a story that explores manipulation, perception, and the darker sides of human nature.
The concept also touches on real-world issues, including society’s tendency to overlook the consequences of certain developments when they benefit those in power.
“People will see things happening and choose not to do anything, because it’s easier than taking action,” Miller explains. “Developments like A.I. data centers deplete natural resources, but nobody seems to care. ‘The Veil’ represents this sort of selfishness. Even though the company Liminal Neuro promises to get rid of your fears and worries and empower you to become the person you want to be, the doctors are merely using everyone just to find ‘The Veil.’”
Throughout 2026, Glasswaves worked alongside producer Justin Spaulding to bring the album to life, collaborating between Atlanta, New York, and even remotely through Discord. Drawing inspiration from artists including The Neighbourhood, Tame Impala, The Plot In You, Sace6, and Bring Me The Horizon, the band took an approach that allowed them to explore different sounds while building a larger story around the record.
For Rich, while (True) represents a significant step forward for the band creatively and personally.
“while(True) is our most ambitious and personal release yet. Through the story of a failing medical technology company experimenting with dream manipulation, we explore themes of trauma, addiction, perception, and the unseen forces that shape the way we think. More than anything, this album represents our growth as writers. We challenged ourselves creatively, stopped following expectations, and made the record we truly wanted to make. We can’t wait for people to experience the world of while(True) and find their own meaning within it.”
With an ambitious concept, a combination of heavier and more atmospheric sounds, and a story that unfolds throughout the record, Glasswaves are giving listeners plenty to look forward to with while (True).
The album arrives October 23 via SharpTone Records. Pre-orders are available now.
