Killing Connor started out of necessity. Guitarist, Matt explains that he, and bassist Connor were frustrated with being stuck in metal projects limited to “bedroom recording” sessions. In a burst of creativity, Matt wrote an entire album in just two weeks and presented it to Connor and their then-guitarist Mark (who has since left the band). With the addition of vocalist Brian and drummer Dan, the band officially formed with a clear mission. They would play as many gigs as possible, release their music, and leave a mark on the metalcore scene.
With “Blood Spilt, Blood Spent,” Killing Connor delivers an emotionally charged track that captures both grit and grace in equal measure. From the very first note, the song establishes its intensity. A balance between raw emotion and precise production. The vocals stand front and center, carrying an ache that lingers long after the track ends. Every lyric feels intentional, as though pulled from a place of deep reckoning and reflection.
The production enhances that emotion rather than overshadowing it; each layer from the atmospheric guitar work to the grounded rhythm section builds toward a cathartic release. What truly stands out about “Blood Split, Blood Spent” is its dynamic structure. The song opens in full force heavy metal growls, pounding drums, and visceral energy before unraveling into something hauntingly soft and introspective.
That shift from chaos to calm mirrors the emotional weight of the lyrics themselves. The line “No matter where you are I know you’ll prosper” feels like a final breath after the storm, a moment of fragile peace amidst destruction. Killing Connor have created something that’s not just heard, but felt. A testament to the power of honest songwriting and passionate delivery.
